Fine and impressive 18th century Gillows of Lancaster cased mahogany 8 day longcase clock by Thomas Johnson of Liverpool. Very similar clocks are illustrated in the Gillows book. The front of the case is all beautifully mirror matched early flame mahogany veneers with canted corners and original ogee bracket feet. The hood with original reverse painted glass panels, typical Gillows carved top part with reeded side columns. The case is basically in pretty good condition and is all original but there are minor movement hairlines to the base section.
The movement is an 8 day deadbeat movement with sweeping second and date hands and moon phase to the top. It has been fully serviced and is in perfect working order.
